Business Patterns in Ontology Design

چکیده
Trends in ontology design show an interest in the development of Ontology Design Patterns. Most of these are derived from a scientific point of view. We argue that there is a category missing in these pattern libraries, being that of business related patterns. In this paper we describe how Be Informed uses business patterns to develop commercial applications based on semantics and ontologies. Large scale applications ask for a structured approach, including the use of these patterns. We describe three examples of these patterns and show how they are used in existing applications.

Ontology-based Patterns for the Integration of Business Processes and Enterprise Application Architectures
Increasingly, enterprises are using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as an approach to Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). SOA has the potential to bridge the gap between business and technology and to improve the reuse of existing applications and the interoperability with new ones. In addition to service architecture descriptions, architecture abstractions like patterns and styles ca...

An organisation’s competitiveness relies heavily on its business processes, and business processes nowadays are automated through Web Services to allow organisations to be more flexible in the face of change. However, bridging the gap between business process patterns and Web Services is an important yet challenging task and therefore this paper aims to describe an approach that facilitates the...
متن کاملA Holistic Approach Towards a UML Profile for Business Modeling
Due to faster and faster changing business conditions, companies must be able to quickly adopt these changes to their IT infrastructure. Thus, business models must reflect these changes in order to design/align business processes supporting the value exchanges defined in the business model. Presently there are three major and well-accepted business modeling techniques e3-value, Resource-Event-A...
متن کاملUsing OWL Design Patterns for Modeling and Reasoning with Organizational Policies
Organizations use policies to manage business cases effectively and efficiently. However, when they start defining their policies, they are often incomplete. In order to enact the incomplete set of policies they define a default policy that is used for cases that do not match the initial policy set. Since matching a business case to a set of policies is a classification problem, we suggest that...

The aim of this paper is to report a selection of Semantic Web aspects pertaining to ontology development activities in the domain of the IT business standard (TOGAF 9) such as formulating competency questions, conceptualization of the domain, resolution of the source knowledge deficiency and applying common design patterns in the OWL formalization. Authors also try to determine target groups t...
